|In or around the driver's area there is a plate with a VIN number on it. If you take the VIN number to the NADA website (www.nadaguides.com), you can get it interpreted for free.
8.2L is a pretty common deisel motor in these busses and it's typically mated to an Allison trans (AT 545 or similar). There should always be a tag on the motor and tranny to tell you what they are. Usually stamped steel or aluminum.
