Post New Message Your bus is geared for a 50MPH top speed, but I would also expect it to be able to holdd that speed up just about *ANY* incline since it is geared low.

I say run basic diagnostics on the engine and tranny to see why you're losing so much power. It could be something as simple as making an adjustment on the transmission or low fluid in the transmission.

Far be it from me to dissuade you from installing the big-block, but if you want to keep the stock set up, then start with the basics. If you aren't emotionally invested in the drivetrain, don't bother and just install the big-block. Keep in mind that replacing the engine will also (probably) mean replacing the transmission.
