Slow 1975 Loadstar 1600 bus! by Dave
Post New Message I have a 1975 Wayne body bus built on a International Loadstar 1600. It is powered by an International 345cid V8 with an Allison AT540. I just bought the bus so I have no idea what to expect form it in the way of top speed and hill climbing ability. It will reach 50 MPH on a stright flat road in about 1 mile of road but the slighest grade change will bring the bus down to 30MPH. Shouldn't the 345 be able to maintain 50 MPH on modest hills? Should I expect more from the 345 or replace it with a 427 tall deck I happen to have? Any input would be appreciated.
