AAA insured my conversion. They wanted to walk through it to make sure it had the state required changes. Good rates too.

State Farm insured my converted bus, but since I was not going to be transporting people, they needed to see a picture of the inside of the bus showing that the seats were removed.

I went with GMAC for insurance on my 1980 BlueBird. 6 months of basic liability for $148. Not to bad.

I'm thinking of buying a school bus and converting it. I think that I've found someone to insure it after I convert it, but I need someone to insure it from the purchase site to the conversion site. It seems that since it has the seats in it still no one wants to insure it. What can i do?

I am trying to purchase my first school bus to convert. I live in Oklahoma and am finding it terribly difficult to get started with insurance. I want to start with it by taking out the seats so I can move my dogs and articles up to Michigan, but have been getting nowhere with registering nor insurance, If there is anyone out there that Lives in Ok, and can lend advice I sure need some. I want to do the conversion after I get moved to Mi, but I need insurance and registration while I am here and moving my things and the state and the insurance companies are making it very hard.
Thank you.

My husband and I are just about done with converting our 1977 school bus into a motorhome and I would like to know what we have to put in it, such as; sink, toilet, stove, etc in order to get insurance on it. Our insurance agent that we have for our cars cannot tell me what it is I need to know in order to get insurance. We live in Indiana and we have to get insurance before we can even get plates on it. If you could find time to send me this information or call me at 812-683-3161 I would very much appreciate it. Thank You, Rose

I have had mine insured with Progressive in both Minnesota and Wisconsin for a very reasonable rate. Both states require an inspection when you first do the conversion but after that transfering the title from mn to wi or the other way was no problem.

What state did you get the AAA insurance? I'm in IL and got the "It must be a manufactured motorhome" line. School bus conversions were a no-go, "professional" or not. They also required internal bathrooms. Not something I really want to install.

I used GMAC last year. Would like to switch to a place where I can do changes and download docs like I do with Progressive. Would also like to get towing insurance. I've got a 92 Ford B700/Thomas that I'm converting.

I am trying to quickly insure a converted school bus for a family reunion trip at end of month. We are in the process of the conversion and expect it to be done any day. I'm in NY and haven't found an insurer as yet. Any help?
