|Waste Vegetable Oil Diesel bus fuel||crystal-clear||1-30-05|
Hi, Has Anyone been able to fuel any of the bus engines like cummins 220 or 250 od detroit diesel 6-71's or cat 3208's for long and got around all the problems,I'd like to know so i can get a bus that's likely to be a good candidate for converting....thank you verry much

From what I've read on the subject, all diesel engines can use bio-diesel or can be converted to run "Greasel"
Take a look at http://www.uidaho.edu/bae/biodiesel/, http://www.biodieselgear.com/equipment/catalog.htm, http://www.biodiesel.org/ as a start. There are links to a lot of successful biodiesel users and greasel conversions.
Biodiesel is very different from "Greasel". Greasel is unprocessed veggie oil and biodiesel has been processed thru Transesterfacation to remove all the water and glycerine so it behaves like diesel fuel rather than what you'd use in a fryer.

Zwell I Have heard that if you plug the fuel filters in the (at least the pankake cummins engines) or run out of fuel,And have worn piston rings The engine will suck the lubricating oil from the crankcase while continuing to run on 30# until the engine grinds itself into pieces.....so try not to plug up your Greasel delivery system.....Let how your greasel sistem is coming a long,Van Greasel

I've been running a DD 2-71 on wvo for months, 10-12 hours a day as a generator (12.5kw). No issues with the fuel. Needs to be well filtred, and at least 80 F.

W(aste) V(egetable) O(il) conversions are really "conversions" per se but adapting your fuel tank system.
If you can find, or are willing to create your own, source of biodiesel that is the simplist way to go. No changes for anything. Just keep the antigel handy as biodiesel is said to gell at slightly higher temps.
www.greasel.com has information and kits to setup heated fuel tanks for the use with WVO. I hope to have my installation scheduled for sometime this fall. Ideally I hope to run a combination of biodiesel and wvo.
Another good site with biodiesel info:
