School bus experts, here's something I've wondered about.
I've noticed that a lot of school buses have a heavy pipe looking thingy tucked up under the body right behind the passenger door. There isn't one on the other side of the bus. I've never noticed a similar structure on medium duty trucks. What the heck is it?
Hi
The fuel tank is located near the door and the pipe that you see is part of the protective cage to protect the tank from damage. Most busses since the early seventies have this feature.
