Hydraulic motor driven, amphibian mark 12-26-03
Could a diesel engine run a hydraulic pump that would run hydraulic motors for indepentant axles so I could mount my engine in the middle of bus and make it amphibious, I did this with a car, but I did not use hydraulic drive see www.trafford.com publishers for my book the amphigeo story by mark roehrig so you'll know I'm not nuts
if anyone has knowledge on the subject of hydraulic driven axles to the wheel via hyd, motors please reply I know its a shot in the dark maybe someone knows someone I can talk to

I may just be shooting in the dark here but i know how much of a let down it is for no one to reply. My thought was about taking parts from construction equipment. I don't know how big of a bus you want to make amphibious, but take for example a Bobcat, it's got a gas engine coupled to a decent hydraulic pump which powers everything including there hydrostatic drive system of two different hydralic motors. And i know that most larger bulldozers used a gearbox with two clutches to drivce each side differently, but can never drive both in opposite directions. Maybe this will get you started. Keep us, me posted on this i love custom stuff!!

They have this type drive on some fork lift's...big one...there is a small crane that has that type drive that work on switch to drive each wheel and tuure them allso, and some rubber tire earth type loaders also John Deer used that to drive there track

Does it have to go fast??? It would be much much easier to find all the pieces of the puzzle if it all it has to do is creep along.
