Don't screw with the seals on that rear end...just make sure it is full and then blast all the gunk off at a car wash...and drive it a while, then you'll be able to see if it is really leaking are has just collected engine oil that has blown back. Get a new mechanic friend too ! The thing you are looking at is the actuator for the two-speed axle. [ you did now there was another speed...didn't you ?]
