|1964 Chevy Schoolbus - Questions||Mathew||6-20-03|
I just purchased a 1964 Chevy Schoolbus, its a bluebird. Its in semi ok shape, it has a few problems, but nothing too major I think.
I have a couple of questions.
1) Shop Manual, or repair book of some sort for this bus. Anyone have any suggestions as to where to get one? Even something not exactly for this bus would be ok. Here is a shot of it on the back of a trailer http://www.millerbeane.com/modules/gallery/album/album06/Picture_156.sized.jpg
2) It has a straight 6, but I dont know much about engines. It right now needs a new air filter, it didnt come with one, and I dont know how to determain what size, or model I will need to know when I go to buy one. Any help there would be appriciated. See http://www.millerbeane.com/engine.jpg for an image of the engine.
3) The rear axle pumpkin has some leachage, and a wierd pump my mechanic friend said he had never seen. If anyone knows anything about this pump, I would be interested to hear about it. Here is a shot of the rear axle with the pump, you can also see in the upper right hand corner an issue with the brake line, small fix though.
4) Where can I find parts for this beast, mail order or internet sites would be cool.
Thanks for any help at all on this.

|Don't screw with the seals on that rear end...just make sure it is full and then blast all the gunk off at a car wash...and drive it a while, then you'll be able to see if it is really leaking are has just collected engine oil that has blown back. Get a new mechanic friend too ! The thing you are looking at is the actuator for the two-speed axle. [ you did now there was another speed...didn't you ?]|

|My 1964 Chevy School Bus lost her brakes and I took out some guy's front porch and two trees before it stopped. I'll send you all of my manuals as my next bus is going to have AIR brakes!|
E-mail your phone number and we can arrange for postage.
