I would like to know if it is ilegal to leave the warning lamps in. Also does anyone have a diagram of the thomas warning lamps specificly Baader-brown.
It is not legal to allow the school bus equipment (stop paddle, crossing arm, warning lamps, etc.) to remain operable on any bus that is not being used as a school bus.
Some people have left the amber lamps in and turned them into high level turn signals--a bit of overkill if you ask me and really hard on the turn signal flasher.
What exactly is it you need to know about the Baader-Brown flasher circuit? You are talking about the non-electronic motor driven flasher unit aren't you? The 4-light circuit is fairly straight forward--hot lead to switch, switch to motor, motor to lamps, lamps to ground. The 8-light circuit is a little more complicated in that it sometimes had two flasher units and the red circuit would cancel the amber circuit when the red circuit was activated. Other than that, it is wired the same.
If you are not going to be using the bus as a school bus, get rid of all of it and not worry about any of it.
