Bus/Coach Clearance Height?? Joz 5-20-03
Hey, y'all...

I need to know how tall a school bus, a tour/charter bus, and a motor coach are. Anyone have a recommended minimum clearance? 13'? 15'?

Please respond via email - jwright@rondomin.com

Help is most appreciated. :)

Thanks...
-Jocelyn

All buses are different!

Crowns are usually 10.5' tall; the MCi I drive at work is like 11.2 i think...

Joz--I have a 1992 Bluebird flatnose I am converting with my wife's help (our 6th bus, first flatnose). Height is only 10 feet. Tour buses go as high as 13 feet 6 inches-- THE LEGAL MAXIMUM NATIONWIDE. Most interstate underpasses are only 13'9" and quite a few two-lane underpasses are much lower than that. If you are going to do alot of traveling with the bus you get you will probably be happier with keeping to a lower height bus. Also, when you hit the road you will really appreciate having a copy of a book that is available in any truckstop. It lists pretty much every low clearance underpass and bridge in the US and is updated yearly. This book is a true "roofsaver" Hope this helps you, email me if you want to chat about conversions. I don't know it all by any means but have learned an awful lot over thelast 25 years, most by mistake. Will help you any way I can.

Actually, I'm designing a parking lot cover thing, and needed to know how high to make the entry. :)

Thanks for the info... We're good with 13'6".
