Thomas supports their products very well. Almost all of their parts and pieces are readily available at any Thomas dealer, if not at your local NAPA store.

The problem with the P-30 chassis is it is the P-30 chassis. It may be rated at 10K-14K GVW butin actual practice, the chassis just didn't hold up under those weights.

In school bus service, on the chassis with IFS, if you didn't put air bags in the front springs you were replacing front springs all the time. On the wide body buses rear shocks had a tendency to break their mounts. The four wheel disc brakes stopped well but ate up rotors, particularly in the rear, at a rate about twice that of the rear drums.

Really stay away from it if the chassis came with the 6.2L diesel. The engine was way underpowered for the application. Even with the overdrive transmission they screamed at anything close to freeway speed and died on any hill. Fuel consumption was rather poor and not that much different from the gas 350 V-8.

The later chassis which had a beam front axle was built a lot beefier and didn't have quite as many problems. If it came with the 6.5L turbo diesel it actually had pretty good go and not bad fuel mileage.

There are a lot of buses for sale out there. Think really long and hard before you purchase any Type 'A' or Type 'B' school bus.
