Cutting / removing window posts Miller 4-14-03
1987 Wayne schoolie.
I want to install other windows that would require me to cut and remove some window posts. One post between the two large windows in the rear and maybe two other posts forward of that with a good seperation between them.
Question is, what is your experience with this operation and would there be a noticeable structeral problems?
Fixes?

also. Window screens. Yes I read the posts over at the yahoo group but running a full length of screen down the side of my bus doesnt really interest me. Any other ideas?

thanks a bunch
Bill
Re: Cutting / removing window posts freebird 5-24-03
I looked my 85 chevy bluebird over and decided not to mess with the window posts, structeral weekness seem probable. I did remove some widows and installed 3/16 tinted plexy, then calked and reinstalled windows (in areas privacy is desired).
as for screens I'm having screens made up in 1/4" frames. They will be installed on the inside with thumb screws to hold them in place.
You turn the thumb screws remove the screen and open the window then replace screen.
Best and least expensive idea I could find.

If you do that don't wonder why your roof falls on your head. those SUPPORT the roof!

If you need to cut a support post make a header to transfer the weight & structural integrity to adjacent post.
