DOES ANYONE HAVE SUGGESTIONS FOR HOLDING TANK INSTALLATION, FOR FRESH, GREY AND BLACK WATER? I HAVE HEARD OF USING SCRAPED DOMESTIC HOT WATER HEATER TANKS, BARRELS, USED CHEMICAL DRUMS, ETC, AS WELL AS READY MADE TANKS FROM SUPPLY CATALOGUES. ALSO HOW ARE THEY HELD UP UNDER THE FLOOR OF A SCHOOL BUS. IS WELDING INVOLVED OR SOME TYPE OF BRACKETS? I HAVE A CONVENTIONAL TYPE 66 PASSENGER BLUEBIRD. ANY HELP WOULD BE WELCOME.

A member of the Skoolie yahoo list has used the 10" pipe method, looks like it works pretty good.

Critical rule: make the greywater tank 20% bigger than the freshwater tank. So, even if you run every last drop of freshwater in there, you don't get funky grey water up to your ankles in the shower. If you are making your own from scratch, make the bottom of the tank very much the lowest point. If you put the drain in a corner of a flat tank and the vehicle ends up off-kilter, with that spot low, nasty stinky sulphorous nofungoo will grow in it. You need to pour clorox down the drain every once in a while, to kill the nasty stinky nofungoo. This clorox will affect plastic after a while. Rust will affect steel after a while. Very few things affect aluminum or stainless steel.

I have a schoolie about the same size as yours. I had an idea the other day which may work. A piece of 10 inch plastic sewer pipe 8 feet long will hold about 40 gallons. I have room for that under my bus, but so far haven't priced the pipe. If you have access to cheap pipe, that may give you a way to go. I have thought of several ways to cover the ends without using large, expensive pipe fittings. It shouldn't be too hard to fasten it underneath using steel banding material over scrap rubber pads (old tires ??). Let me know if you try it and it works. Lee

How do you plumb the toilet, shower, bathroom sink,and kitchen sink into a 10" pipe, and also plumb the dump valves in a 10" pipe. It sounds alot cheaper than buying those overpriced rv tanks. I want to do this method on my bus conversion, i just need info. Thanks Kevin
