Ford B700 bus with 8.2L detroit diesel Anubis 3-11-03  
Hi,

I just purchased a Ford bus (B700) with an 8.2 L detroit diesel engine in it.

I was wondering if anyone knows the basic maintenance specs for this engine:

Engine oil capacity / type

Coolant capacity / type

Belts / hoses / filters / etc.

also:

It has an Allison transmission. Not sure which one.

It would be nice to know how much fluid it holds, what type to use, etc.

I want to take good care of this setup, and I need to know the basics.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am looking for a 8.2L to replace my 6.2L diesel in my pick up. Does any one know were i can find a cheap one that can be rebuilt for not much money?

If you live in a smaller town, I get a lot of help from the local school district mechanic.

Try looking for a manual for it. Your local library might have a MOTOR heavy truck repair manual.

Search for Detroit Diesel 8.2 liter on the net etc.

Please help me with information about parts for Ford B700 bus, VIN:1FTZR15E91TA82432 and give the name of Dealer in Miami, USA.
The parts that i need are:
1-overhault gasket set
1-tranmission seals kit
6-pistons STD
6-ring piston STD
6-Liner STD
1-Bearing Conecting rod 020
1-Main bearing 020 with thrust
1-Kit clutch )Cover,plate and bearing
1-gear steering Overhault kit for bendix
1-steering pump gasket kit

Look for a MOTORS heavy truck repair manual around the years of your bus. I just got a Vol 4 Professional series on eBay for $30. They cost around 100 for the older ones and about 400 for the new ones.

BTW,
I was quoted 1700 to rebuild my tranny and I ended up doing it my self for 150-.

I purchased a brandnew manual from a detroit diesel dealer for around a 120 dollars. A little expensive but the information contained is so detailed that it is well worth the money.

Hi !

Thanks for all the replies.

I have had pretty good luck getting the information that I needed, and with the B700 in general.

It has been painted, seats removed, generator installed, AC installed, new hoses, belts, fuel shutoff (expensive), starter (also expensive), tires and rims, etc.

So far so good.
