Newspapers use thin sheets of sheet steel to print the paper. Throw them away at the end of the print run. Ask yor local newspaper if they use this method.
Check with metal fabrication shops in your area, they ALWAYS know where to get the best deals.
I would suggest using 18-20 gauge steel. You can easily remove the windowsby removing the 4 mounting screws in each one. If the mount from the inside you must lift them up to remove, If they mount from the outside they simply pull out. you can loosen the rub rail and drip cap, insert the metal to cover the windows, and reapply these items using 1/4" cap head rivets. It is well worth the effort. The finished product doesn't look like an old school bus. it has a very nice custom look to it.
Check with a local Stock Car race team that uses aluminum as their body panels. The sheets usually come in 4X12 sheets and they are already painted in various colors. The sheets come covered with plastic to keep from scratching till you are ready to install after cutting for size.
