I have a 1969 GMC 36' School Bus w/ a305v-6 motor and a automatic transmission. I have'nt had it out on the road yet due to conversion, but am wondering what I am looking at for Gas Mileage on the open Highway, asumeing I have her all tuned corectly.
I have asked several people I know and am getting reports of anything from 6 to 15 miles per gallon! can anyone shed some light on the truth of the matter for me I would very much appreceate it.
thanks Beorn.
I try not to run mine over 3200 rpm. That is about 63-65 on level ground. (most of the time around 3000 to 3100 rpm) The hills slow it down to right lane only, emergency flasher territory, though. It has run dependably for around 10 k miles since I put a junkyard engine in it. If you don't get in a hurry and watch your tach (buy one if it doesn't have one), they will get you there and back almost forever.

I have an 84 international 72 passenger with the 345 cubic inch and the 545 allison 4 spd. I got 7 miles to the gallon consistently. I changedxd the rear pod 657(i think) and I put in 4:11 and on flat ground running I can get 12, but I am in 1 or 2 gear if it even sees a hill
