57 Chevy school bus: Front End work Chris 1-1-03
I know I shouldn't have fallen in love with such an old vehicle, but here I am trying to find replacement kingpins and tierods for it.

Know of any old defunct buses lying around or some parts supplier that has heavy parts this old?

Where are those mystical school bus graveyards with vehicles from the late 50's?

Has anyone ever put a bus this old onto newer chassis?

This is my first post, but I have a feeling I'll be sticking around the discussion for the rest of my life...

Chris

I wouldn't bother with trying to find used parts for the front end. Anything you will find will be of the same vintage and most likely as worn out.

Moog and NAPA usually have pretty good parts coverage, even for stuff as old as yours.

I have done kingpins before. I won't ever again. It is a whole lot less expensive to take it to a shop who knows what they are doing than to do it myself. Make sure it is a shop that does heavy equipment. The local tire shop that does alighnment most likely will not have the equipment or experience to handle a bus.

Good luck and happy trails.

Mark O.

P.S. Lee's in Chehalis, WA is the place everyone goes to in southwest WA.

Chris, call MOR-DROP at (510) 261-1888 in Oakland, CA. They'll have all the new parts you need. BTW here are pictures of my '56 Ford skoolie that has a Chevy 454 and 400th auto transmission. Older skoolies are the only way to go. Good luck
