|Bus driver wages differ greatly depending upon the location around the country. |
Generally speaking, school bus wages start anywhere from $7.00 per hour to more than $15.00. Transit driver wages tend to be a little higher. Motorcoach driver wages average about $10.00 per hour.
The actual take home wage differs greatly as well. Some operations have a minimum number of hours per day. Others pay only for the actual hours worked. For instance, one local district pays almost $14.00 per hour but pays only for actual driving time--about 2.5 hours per day with two shifts. The district next door pays $11.00 per hour but pays a minimum of two hours per shift.
Public employers usually also pay very generous benefit packages in addition to the pay.
Good luck and have fun.
|I've seen a lot of ads around town (Anchorage,Alaska) for beginning school bus drivers starting at $11.60 an hour. That seemed kind of low for the level of responsibility involved. Don't know about anywhere else|
