What is the gov. speed on a 6/71? mine will tun 2350 and i don't think it is kicking in. where can i get delo 100,the recommended oil? how do you access the breakers on a 75 crown? thanx everyone ron
Most -71 series DD's are governed @2100-2250 RPM. They will take overspeeding better than any other engine out there but sustained operation at higher speeds will greatly reduce the life of the engine.
All diesel engines have governors built into the pump. If the governor wasn't kicking in your engine would keep going up in rpm's until it blew up.
Some racing DD's are governed at more than 4000 rpm. Not recommended unless you can afford to rebuild each time you shut the engine off.
Delo 100 should still be available at your Chevron bulk distributor. If not, Texaco URSA, Shell Rotella, and Mobil Delvac are just a few brands that are good replacements. When you go to purchase your motor oil, go to the bulk distributor and ask them what they recommend.
Most of the breakers on a '75 Crown should be in the panel below the heater to the right of the driver. At the front of the first step down from the driver in the step well there should be a hinged panel. Behind the panel should be most of the electrical stuff for which you are looking. The only other electrical stuff is in the engine compartment.
