I currently have a 86 thomas built 16 passenger mini bus I was wanting to convert to a motor home ? I do need to have it retitled as such how do I go about doing this? what are the requirments to be a motorhome? According to our laws in NC if it stays as a bus I will have to get cdl (license)
1) Washing facilities. A plastic bowl, a quart of water and a washrag. Maybe even a bucket of Scrubs.
2) A kitchen. In the '70s, a built-in cooler was enough.
3) Sleeping facilities. A bed of some sort.
Do yourself a favor. Don' rely on rumor. Most states have a free CDL booklet, which is worth reading if you are going to drive a bus. Even if you don't need a CDL.
So you are saying if I have a non cdl put a toliet on A Tractor and have recreational facilites on the trailer I can pull 80000 pounds down the road never driving A semi truck. I have a CDL and drive A semi truck What scares me are theese people driving a converted bus with air brakes going down a hill pumping the brake till they depleat the air system having a lockup beacuse they have no idea how how air brakes work makes me wonder why i had to go through everything to get a cdl even air brake test and they dont. They need to make a law 26000 or less period for everyone unless they can pass the test!!!
THAT LAST GUY SOUNDS LIKE A JERK. BUT YOU SHOULD HAVE SOME KIND OF TRAINING. I KNOW THAT THE BUS I AM CONVERTING CANT HAVE ANY OF THE "FLASHERS" VISIBLE. IT CAN NOT BE YELLOW. AND ALL THE RUNNING LIGHTS MUST WORK. THIS IS IN KANSAS.
So I have a 15000 pound rec. trailer I pull and average trucks just arent pulling it can I buy a semi and convert it. If so how and where in California.
O.K., I have read what everyone has had to say, so I need to ask, I have a Charter Bus that i am intending to convert to Motorhome status in Alabama. The CDL manual does not cover this. I have air brakes on it as well. My question is, in Alabama, to get this bus to "motorhome" status, what do i need to do to it, and, because of the air brakes, will I have to get my CDL again?? Please only respond if you know how Alabama does things. My e-mail is administrator@ntgratedweb.com Thank you.
