Crown bus vin# location Douglas E 9-9-02
Can anyone tell me where to find a second vin# location on a 1974 Crown? The large info plate on the dash to the right of the drivers seat is intact with the vin. However, I need to find a second location to verify vin for completion of the registration. Any help would save my life. THANKS....Doug

KAF mentioned the 4 digit Job # that in the wheel well, and you got your tag with the serial...supposedly,on the left side, open the engine door, look at the center of the frame beam right over the engine, and scrub it like hell, there should be a serial number...
I've seen many many many Crowns, I have never seen a serial there at all!

Believe it or not, CHP just might know where the # is stamped...they inspect schoolbuses and those who do that job have checked out HUNDREDS of Crowns...

Who knows!

Not sure about Crowns, but most vehicles have a VIN plate somewhere in the engine compartment.
On my IH, the dash plate is from the coach builder; the chassis plate is on the firewall.

Just a thought.

Thanks Dave, but I found nothing. I'm hoping there's a vin plate or stamp on one of the frame rails, like the car makers do, but I haven't been able to find anything yet. Just don't want to hassle making an appointment with CHP to have them find it! They currently have about a 3 month waiting list. Thanks again for your input!.....Doug

Re: Crown bus vin# location KAF 9-11-02
I know that there is a job number stamped in the wheel well (the first one on the passenger side), but the job number isn't the same as the actual serial number. Other than on the vehicle record itself, I can't remember ever finding the serial number stamped anywhere else on a Crown. Sorry. :\

If I can think of anything, though, I'll be sure to make a post.
Re: Found it KAF 9-11-02
I asked someone else about this -- they said that the Crown 5 digit serial numbers are stamped on both frame rails above the engine. It might be hard to read, but they're there somewhere. I hope this helps you a little bit.
