I have a broken latch on the spare tire bay door on my 1975 Crown. These require a square tool be inserted into each latch to open/close them. Should I replace it with original or is there a better item that I could up grade to? Where would I find a replacement?
Thanks
These knife locks are the original equipment, I personally stick with original as possible becuase that's what it's designed for.
If you need to find a Crown key, the square tool to open the trunk & doors and lock the door; try to find a vintage VW parts supplier, they sell the same thing, it opens vintage VW bug and bus rear deckslids.
If your bus is a schoolcoach model, you can lock your front door with the Crown key also! Should be a loop under the first step, you put the key up in the hole, noodle a master lock in the loop and thru the crown key loop and LOCK!
I have a dead Crown I use for parts for my bus. If you need parts, just give me a call. I also give free advice, as I've been driving and working on heavy stuff for years.
