The DT466 is a great engine but I would not classify it as a big engine.
If you are wanting a school bus that will get up and move (i.e. a BIG ENGINE) then you need to find a Crown with a Cummins 300/335 in it. With a 10-speed Road Ranger in it, that kind of Crown can cruise at 80+ MPH and not slow down for the hills. It can do that will transporting 15 rows of people.
Really nice late model Crowns with the big Cummins are available for about what you would pay for a newer IHC with a DT466 and an automatic.
A Crown with the big Cummins and an automatic will be a little bit more difficult to find and a little bit more expensive.
Just recently I have seen a post where someone is wanting to sell a pair of early 80's vintage Crowns with the big Cummins and Road Ranger for $18,000.
