Has anyone installed a dt466 in a gillig 501? i need to know what gearing was used, if the stock radiator was adequate,motr mts. and what tips you can give . i found one sight about a guy in alaska who did this but his email is blocked. thanx ron.

The 501 for a DT466 is a great swap. It is a pretty straight forward swap and can be accomplished without a lot of fabrication. Good luck and happy trails. Mark O.

Howdy I'm (probably) the guy who sold the bus to the guy in Alaska, as there are almost NO GILLIG IN THE WORLD with DT466 engines. he got a hell of a deal from me, because he helped me out on a deal. If you can buy it BUY IT!!!!! It has only about 50,000 on the engine. I can also tell you who knows EVERYTHING about swapping the motor, the guy who actually did it, Chuck Altree.
