JUST BOUGHT A 75 WITH A DETROIT DIESEL. WHAT IS THE BEST OIL TO USE? HOW MUCH EXTRA OIL SHOULD I CARRY? IAM PICKING UP THE BUS IN OREGON THEN BRINGING HER HOME TO NEW MEXICO.ANY PRECAUTIONS? THANX TO EVERYONE ON THIS SITE FOR ALL THE GREAT ADVISE!!!!! RON DETULLIO TAOS NM

Me too! Just bought '75 Crown in Washington state and on way back to Minnesota now (waiting for Pizza). It looks like I am getting 9 MPG, but it takes about 1 gallon of oil per 500 miles. 245,000 miles showing, running 2,000 RPM through mountains. Is this normal?

Hi David I have a 1969 Crown with a 671 Detroit Diesel in it, and I took it from California to Indiana and back this past summer. It only used about 3/4 of a gallon of oil for the entire trip (4000 miles). 9 MPG is pretty good fuel mileage, though. Mine usually gets 10 or more on the open road. Hope this information is helpful. Have a fun trip. :)

Hi David FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN TOLD, THE DETROIT CAN BE AN OUTRAGEOUS LEAKER. NO ONE HAS TOLD ME WHERE THEY LEAK OR HOW EASY TO FIX. RON
