Transmission choices. by Larry Elmendorf

I am looking for an alternative to my present transmission. I currently have a 27' MH on a P30 chassis, nonmolested, 454 backed by a nonlocking 400thd. I obvously dont get MPG, better Gas stations per mile. I have looked at the AT545 and can get one for little or nothing, but it looks at second like that would only gain me an extra gear, not the ratio, or efficency of.67 or better. I dont need an under over splitter, I need to reduce the RPM's at cruise.
