Re: Leak damage repair by Kenneth Laughinghouse
Post New Message Our camper is in a camp site, the was a storm that blew out the fridge fuse. We found it out last weekend. It had been at least six weeks since we had been there. It's near the beach so of course it had a small pakage of fish in the freezer. The freezer also needed to be defrosted.(HA) Well it did and it ran down into the fridge and out the bottom wetting the wood frame and part of the carpet.
We took the doors off and shelves and drawers out. We cleaned with ammonia, baking soda, and vinigar. We left bowls of ammonia and soda in bowls in and around the fridge.
I went back a few days later to clean again and wipe everything down with PURE vanilla flavoring. Went back to wipe it down 5 days later and put the doors back on and turn it back on,leaving ammonia and soda.
The smell is still there, not as bad but still there. Our next step is to take up the carpet.I'm wondering if the wood frame on the front needs to come off. I soaked it also in all the above.
Has any one out there had this same situation and what did you do?
Thanks, Flustered in NC
