Hi,
I have a Jayco Jay Flight trailer, with a GVWR of 9000 lbs. Is it possible to tow with a Ford F150 (8500 lbs) or do I really need to move up to teh F250 series (which of course is an added expense)? Any suggestions?
I'm telling you from experience, you will not be happy towing a 9000 lb trailer with ANY 1/2 ton truck. You will probably be able to pull it, but you won't be going over 50 mph, and if you are going to be going up any hills at all, you will be lucky to hit 40 mph. I made the same mistake, with a Dodge Ram 1500, with a 360. I was pulling a trailer with a rating 2000 less than the one you're talking about. Simply put, get a bigger tow vehicle.
