DIESEL VS GASOLINE FOR 26' BORN FREE Aileen B. Campbell 10-28-05
Need pros and cons on diesel vs gasoline for single senior citizen with no mechanical ability! Thank you.

Diesel is the only way to go in my book. Anything bigger than a pop-up i would go with a 2500 series....

I personally am on my 6th diesel, they have lots of power and decent fuel economy. However, you should examine how many miles you anticipate driving, the diesel costs $5k+ more than a gasser. You might also find a good deal on a used diesel, the purchase price on my new diesel truck was astronomical. The gas engine is quieter, but generally gets fair-poor fuel economy.

I agree with Glenn Freshour, but I'll go 1 step further. Diesels have become much more quiet and REFINED lately (Particularly Duramax, Chevy is in my blood!) New diesels put out 650+ lb/ft torque, and can be modified to make MUCH more, while still making superior fuel economy. However, if serious power, and many miles aren't part of equation, it may be cheaper to buy gas. Just my 2cents, if cost is no issue, treat yourself to a Duramax Diesel ;) Also noteworthy, biodiesel can be made out of used cooking oil for about $.80/Gallon!
