1976 Empire Travel Trailer Tim 6-17-05
I am going to look at the above mentioned trailer tomorrow. I understand the company is no longer in business. Can anyone tell me anything about them?
Re: 1976 Empire Travel Trailer 1978 rehab 2-16-10
They were built very cheap and not very well manufactured.
Re: 1976 Empire Travel Trailer 1978 rehab 2-17-10
THE ROOF WAS NEVER SHEETED WITH PLYWOOD AND THE METAL ROOF WOULD LEAK REAL BAD.(JUST SCHEMED THE RAFTS TO FORM A ARCH). THE WALLS WERE NOT SHEETED EITHER. JUST STUDS AND INSULATION. THEY WERE NOT THE BEST OF TRAILER MADE IN THE 70"S. I HAVE REHAB A 1978,(WHAT A MESS) BUT I TOTALLY REBUILT IT.

I found a nice 1976 Empire RV trailer, looks like just needs a good cleaning inside and out. How are they for roof and frame holding up? I am looking at in person (not just pics) tomorrow.
Re: 1976 Empire Travel Trailer Mike 5-3-10
I just bought a 78 travel trailer for $500, pretty good water damage to the walls and ceiling, cross members rotted. Pretty much have to gut the thing, lay new linoleum, reinsulate and frame, new paneling for the walls, and reseal the roof. Cabinets and stuff are mostly good enough, I just don't like the idea of all the mold in there from the leaks. And hell, if anything else, a 12' x 8' flat trailer goes for around $800

We have had ours since 1980 and it is still taking us all over. No leaks, mold etc. I have redone all the fabric and curtains, but hey, the stuff in my house hasn't lasted that long.
