.35$ Surcharge at Some Gas Stations Bron 1-27-05
I am pretty new to the motor home experience. I bought a Royal Classic by Glendale and it has a 55 gallon tank. I have noticed some gas stations that impose a $.35 fee for using a debit card will automatically shut off at around $75 worth of gas. So I am forced to reslide my card and incur another fee. I know another $.35 is not a big deal, it is just kind of annoying, and I was wondering if anybody else has had the same experience, and at what brand gas stations. I am based in California and was hoping somebody might know something about the whole thing.
Thanks

We live in Michigan and have also run into the same problem. I'm sorry I didn't take note of the names of the gas stations this has happened at, but I will be keeping track in the future! I've never seen a sign posted anywhere letting you know this before you start pumping the gas.

We are presently in Arizona and have not yet had that happen. But I am glad to see this post as I'll sure be watching for that. Do they also charge for use of a credit card? Both have the same charges to the merchant and are handled through the same services.

Good traveling!........Kirk

Instead of sliding, take the credit card to the attendant and tell them fill up, no limit. Good Luck, TomC

Never ever ever select debit at the pump or anywhere else. The pump just sees visa it does not see credit or debit. I use my card several times per week for gas groceries whatever and have never paid a fee. My wife who used to select debit at the same grocery store paid a $1 fee every single time, until I taught her to say credit.

Flying J travel centers charge a surcharge and limit to 50 gals. I encountered this in Sioux Falls, SD
