Any full time trailers? ray baker 8-8-04  
Hi, new to forum. my wife and i are planning to sell our house and start full timing, and we wondered if there are any trailers built/designed for a couple for full timing? by this, i mean are there any trailers with more storage, more hanging space, more drawers, better quality, and designed for 2 people?

we have been to a couple of rv shows and several dealers and have been disappointed in what we saw. generally, the trailers have poor quality/materials and probably wouldn't last 5 years full timings. they also have very little hanging space or drawers. usually, they sleep 6-8 and seat 10. we are looking for a quality trailer for 2.

we have read several books/magazines on rvs and full timing, but would appreciate any advice/suggestions on where to look on buying and full timing.

Congrats on your decision to fulltime. My partner and I have been fulltiming for two years now. We have a 24ft 97 wilderness fifth wheel and the two of us find it to be great. I have to tell you though that when you do sell the house and move into your rig of choice you are going to find that there is a lot of stuff you will need to rid yourself of. There is no camper on the market that can replicate the space you will have in your house, just be sure to remind yourself of that as you look, we had to several times :). It is surprising how much you can stand to loose (as far as possessions go).

Anyway...are you looking for a coach, pull behind, fifth wheel? Large and comfy fifth wheels highly recommended are Big Montana's! These are absolutely beautiful rigs but you are going to need at least a F350 to pull the sucker (the 34ft weigh 10,000lbs dry!). Bounder's are great coachs that are affordable. And there are many models by Fleetwood that will be very rooming in both pull behinds and fifth wheels.

PS...really think about camping clubs to join if you fulltime (thousand trails, western horizens...these help to make any rig feel more like home)

Thanks for the info. we are leaning towards 5th wheels. they seem to have a little more storage, and we are told they tow easier.

the "only" drawback to 5th wheeels is they are a lot higher priced than a comparable length tow trailer.

Hi Ray:

We sold our home last year and are currently living fulltime in an Alfa Ideal Fifth Wheel which we love.

Lots and lots of storage. A Computer desk for the hubby and walk in closet in the bedroom slideout for me.

The only drawback has been the basement air has a hard time keeping up with the 90 plus heat here in South Texas, but hopefully when we leave next year to travel full time we can avoid places with 90 plus heat so that will solve that problem.
