My husband and I are looking to purchase our first travel trailer. Needless to say we are clueless on alot of issues and don't want to end up making a mistake. Our biggest problem right now is this: We will be pulling with our SUV, so towing weight is an issue. We have gotten conflicting answers from different dealers. One dealer told us we need to go by the GVWR. Another told us to just add 500-1000 pounds to the Dry Weight since very few are ever loaded to capacity. This thin line makes a huge difference in the trailer that we can choose. We don't want to make a mistake. I know this is probably a silly question to people who already own travel trailers, but any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone has any suggestions on brands for lite travel trailers, that would be great too. Thanks in advance!
I own a 1994 Airex,Rexhall, 36 1/2 ft and I would like to know the maximum towing weight. Also, can the hitch be welded, etc. in order to tow more than what is normally recommended for this vehicle?
