I'm new to the RV/bus conversion world. I'm presently looking seriously at a 1965 PD-4106 for this. It has an 8v-71, spicer 4spd, pwr steering and hyd assist clutch. It's just a shell, no seats, or interior at all just the floor and drivers seat...and whats left of the toilet. Overall, it looks to be in pretty good shape body wise all the doors and latches work. Brakes are good and the engine purrs like a kitten and I saw more smoke coming from the end of my cigarette than from the tailpipe. It made about 60psi air at idle within 2-3 minutes (roughly...I wasn't really timing it too closely). In my amateur (bus)opinion and my opinion as an aircraft mechanic, she looks to be in great shape. Now for the first hurdle...financing! After wiping the drool from my lips I made several calls and did online research and can't find anyone to give me a "book" or fair market value on this so I can borrow against it as collateral. Anyone have any advice??

Hi Shawn, While the bus runs good, and meets your requirements, financing is going to be difficult through traditional lenders. They want to finance conversions only. Especially since the bus is devoid of seats, it is no longer a passenger bus, nor is it a conversion, but only a shell. You may try personal line-of-credit with your bank, which is better anyway, since your payments go down as your balance does. Without knowing much more than you've described, I wouldn't pay more than $6500.00 for the bus in good shape, but more like $2500.00 - $5500.00 for an average shape 4106. With MCI-8's now in the $8500.00 - $12,500.00 range, it is hard to justify more than the low-end price I gave you. In the end, though, it is worth what you are willing to pay! My $.02...
