Hey folks,
I recently acquired an old RV for the sole purpose of housing my band at a local festival. Our only payment was to install a circuit breaker box(which I do as part of my job) in the guy's barn so the price was right. Now, the RV: It's a 1965 Dodge 300, or rather that's what I'd call it as it's only exterior markings are the words Dodge and 300 and it's from 1965. All my searches online have turned up squat, though from what I've gathered, a lot of different companies would make RVs on Dodge truck or van platforms. This baby has a V8 318 cubic inch engine that, after we installed the new fuel pump, runs remarkably smooth for an RV that's been sitting in a field for 20-some years. Now my question is: does anyone have any idea what platform this is built on? The engine runs great, the electrical system is sound, and we're in the process of completely replacing the brake system, but the transmission seems kinda shakey so we may need to try and find a replacement. It would be easier to search for a tranny from a 1965 Dodge Insert-whatever-kind-of-truck-or-van-this-thing-was-built-around than the apparently non-existant 1965 Dodge 300 RV. Or if someone knows of a place where I could get replacement parts for an RV like this, I'd love to hear about that. I'll try to get some pictures up if I can find my digital camera.
Any and all ideas, suggestions, and crackpot theories will be appreciated. :) |
