|Replacing an RV refrigerator||Myssi||8-20-08|
|This is our first RV. It is a 22' 1978 Dodge Shasta. The refrigerator doesn't work. My husband wants to replace it with a small dorm-size frige from Walmart. Is this even feasible? The frige in there now runs off of electric or gas. The previous owners never used the gas to run it.|
Any suggestions would be great. I would like to just have the frige fixed but...
Thanks for any help!

|It's been 2 months, so I hope this isn't too late. We have a new $1200 propane/ac RV fridge... unfortunately our solar power system disagrees with it(it's an energy hog) and we opted to install the locking Frigidaire from Lowes. Same size as Walmarts, about $40 more. The fit was very similar, but gave us some room up top for storage. We opted to keep the existing venting as these dorm fridges do get a bit warm. We are using weatherstripping to seal the fore part of the fridge and leaving the rest as is to allow circulation/venting. Only other thing to change was adding stays at the feet to keep it from moving while we were going down the road. Hope that helps.|
