Learning about fulltimers by Brad
Post New Message This is my first post in any of these forums.

We are looking at doing Full time RVing. For insurance information I call my current auto company, progressive.com. I was told they offer two types of insurance for RV's a Cash Value Policy (which means you only get the value of the RV at the time of an accident--not replacement value.)

The other is an Agreed Value Policy, a little more money, but seems worth it in the long run. If your original RV purchase is $75,000.00, and after 5 years you have a complete loss-of-use, they pay the full $75,000.00.

We are looking for an RV at this time, so the progressive agent I spoke to based my rate on a 2002 Gulfstream, Class A RV. They offer partial and full year policies at different rates. The quote for my driving record/age/health, etc came $775.00 for a full year of usage.

This policy was a Comp. & Collision at $1000 deductible, $100,000/$300,000 per accident, 50,000 property damage. It includes coverage of $750.00 per day for loss of use if more than 50 miles from home, and $10,000 per person for (slip & fall, etc.)

Also this policy has an good deductible plan, it was explained to me as this. The first year deductible is $1000.00 if no claims/accidents the 2nd year it is $750.00, 3rd year $500.00, 4th year $250.00, and 5th year a $0.00 deductible. If ever there is a claim the deductible restarts at the $1000.00 level. Sounds like a good deal to me.

I have no practical experience with full time RVing. With a small effort I have already found a wealth of information. My wife and I would like to get into this lifestyle within the next few months. We still a few school age children, and we have already considered home schooling. I run a computer repair business, and can continue to offer my services where ever we go. After my wife finishes two college courses this semester she is applying for a Traveling nurse position.

If any one would like to email me with any good tips, or just want to talk, and get to know each other please send me an email. Thanks in advance.

Brad
