HELP!!No one will insure a schoolbus!	Philomena	3-6-99
I've called all over, and no one is willing to insure a schoolbus for personal use. They all say they will only do commercial, and for that, I have to be a business and only use it for business purposes. I even tried that number that someone posted, saying it was great rates... they told me they only process claims, and referred me to some agents in my area--who said the same thing all the other agencies said. Arrgh!

Hi, I had a similar problem with an Internationl truck used to pull a fith wheel. All the companies wanted to insure it as a commercial vehicle, when it's only function in life as to pull a trailer. I contacted Progressive Ins Co. and they will take it at less that commercial rates. Try Miller Insurance Agency, Inc, 5805 S.W.Willow Land, Lake Oswego, Oregon 97035-5342 (1-800-622-6347) and ask for Mac Upjohn. He will help out. Actually, I tried Progressive, Royal Alliance, GoodSam's, and every local insurance agent. They all said no. The local ones said they sometimes make exceptions for their own customers who have homeowner's and/or other vehicle insurance, but I have neither. I think I tried Miller Insurance too, but I'll check. I even tried to come up with a "business" reason to get commercial insurance, but even that wasn't good enough...and I won't tell a lie to get it. This is driving me crazy, because I found some good buses here, cheap. AAAAARGGH! I've called all over, and no one is willing to insure a schoolbus for personal use. Well, first of all, if you are using it to live in full time or just holidays, it no longer is a school bus... it is a motorhome. Good Sam or Escapees may be able to help. Good luck!
