I purchased a 1991 school bus from our local school system and want to use it for my family, going to football games, camping, etc. I need liability insurance.
Good Samaritan (as in camp grounds) offers insurance to conversions. They also provide a towing/break down insurance like AAA. I was able to get my insurance through State Farm but they gave me a very hard time and said they only did so because I am a long timer with the company.

Just wanted to let ya'll know. I had this problem in MT. As liability insurance is required by law, in that state, they do a raffle and whatever company is pulled is REQUIRED to sell you liability insurance at a reasonable rate. Worked for me. Contact your state licensing or motor vehicle dept. and ask.
I am in the same boat. I was given a 1994 International school bus that I was going to convert to use for football, camping, etc... I can't find insurance. I only want liability. Any luck?
I have a rather unique problem. Purchased a 1991 International School bus in June of 08 while visiting our famlily in PA. We have not been able to get the school bus back to Florida as I can find no one to insure it,have tried everything I can think of. Can get ins. in PA but don't have a PA drivers license, therefore can not register vehicle there. It is a catch 22 and I have been paying monthly storage for the bus since June. Not an easy item to resell so HELP!!!
An independent agent wrote me a policy with Progressive just last week. June 7, 2007. When I got my paperwork it said that converted and non-converted school busses are unacceptable vehicles. I called and questioned it. My policy is in the process of being cancelled. I can't find anyone else to write me a policy. I know there are alot of old bus motorhomes out there. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks, Dave
85 pass bus with Motor Home title. Need ins. Will use as camper, no bath/kitchen. Beds, table and storage for now. Elec. and Kitchenett later. Self built can provide pictures of "conversion" so far. Presume anchor points will be the focus of concern. Need ins. befor 05-23-04.
