Bus conversion insurance by Penny Hueck
Post New Message My husband and I just purchased an '84 Eagle with bathroom. We intend to use as a day coach, just traveling to our destination, eating out, staying in motels, just using the coach for the roomy ride and being able to take along our three sons and spouses, if they want to join us. In NJ, there are NO provisions for a bus which has been "deconstructed" from its original use, whereby seats were removed and only 8 seats left in, and two sofas, no cooking, no beds, no generator. It does not qualify for RV, as no $$ was spent to upgrade (and even their qualifications are much too costly), it is not allowable as a personal passenger vehicle, larger than a van, because of the weight and number of axles. NJ is now looking into a commercial/auto (CAPE coverage) whereby some underwriters accept vehicles which were once used as a commercial vehicle (as a big truck with enlarged sleeper used for country travel), but now services as a family vehicle. I have been searching companies for a month, only to have been refused by all. Seems many states have the same problem, from what I am reading here. Anyone have any luck?
