Petrified Forest National Park is looking for volunteers for the summer 2008 season. Petrified Forest is located in Northern Arizona with many close attractions including the Grand Canyon, Canyon De Chelly, the Flagstaff parks and the White Mountains. Volunteers agree to work 32 hours per week and in return the park provides an RV site with sewer, water and electric plus a $5.00 per day worked meal reimbursement. The duties would be in the division of interpretation working in the visitor centers, roving at scenic vista pullouts and trails talking with visitors and/or presenting formal programs to visitors. Again this is a volunteer position intended for those who enjoy meeting people and helping national parks. The definition of a volunteer is “a person who chooses freely to enter into any transaction with no promise of compensation.” Volunteers are truly special people who provide so much and ask so little. The volunteers make a huge difference in the experience of visitors in the park.
