I don't understand how you people can haul a RV for 1.00-1.50 per loaded mile and make any profit. Sounds to me like you are wearing out trucks and just burning high dollar fuel. Hooray for the Ins. companies, Oil companies, and Tire manufactors....

Everyone is looking for, Fema Trailors. There is alot of stuff you have to have to be able to haul them. You need a fire ex. First aid kit. Flare signs, Millon dollar insurance coverage For pullen Brake box. 2500 Or Bigger 1 ton's Get the contract faster They dont take anyone with anything smaller then a f250 or 2500 And you dont make near what they say, You make good money if you want a quick dollar but comen back and fourth takes a toll as far as the comments about 3 Grand.... Seriously doubt it because theres too many ppl. and Fema cant hold there end up. So GOOD luck...

Hey ya'll I transported RV's for 3 months. The better companies out there will have backhauls for you so you don't return back completely on your own money. Best thing to do is a search on the internet for these companies or go to yahoo yellow pages for elkhart, indiana, - goshen indiana. Here are some companies Bennett Trucking, Horizon Transport, Classic Transport, JET inc, star transport, Some also have driveaway programs too.

Word of warning STAY AWAY FROM THE RV TRANSPORTING INDUSTRY. It has ruined my life and countless others that I know. I just quit as of this week. When I started two years ago I was pretty much debt free now im over 60,000.00 dollars in debt including the payoff of the 52,000.00 brand new truck I bought to start with thats has had approx. 15,000.00 worth of repairs since I started. I know a couple (man & wife) that have been delivering travel trailers, nationwide, out of Indiana for years. They live in Langley, OK. They both have Dodge one ton dulies, and tow both 5th wheel's and tag alongs.

Maybe in your searching you've come accross what I'm looking for. I intend to deliver School busses out of Tulsa, OK accross America. I've got an Isuzu pickup (28 mpg) to tow behind for return trip or other delivery jobs. I've located two other bus manufacturing companies, (school and public transportation) one in Atlanta and the other in North Carolina; also a fire truck manufacturer in Wisconsin. I can probably get motor coaches out of Indiana, and Organ in case I take a bus out that way. If I can find return trip vehicles to deliver I can expect to average over $20 per hr, if my calculations are right and I don't deadhead over 20% of the time. We have several companies hiring drivers to haul FEMA trailers in the Baton Rouge area. Most are short hauls, some long (Indiana, etc.) If you want to sign up with these companies you will need the following: at least 3/4 ton truck, 1 million commercial liability insurance & 30,000 cargo; various safety equipment like orange vest, reflective triangles, firstaid kit, wet cell battery, etc. This is not a complete list but will give you an idea of what is needed. They manufacture a lot of travel trailers, fifth wheels, and rv's there. My husband and I work for a great company called Star Fleet in Elkhart, IN.
