There should be a switch on the dash which is labeled "Main" & "AUX". When the switch in on "Main", the engine should be feeding from the main tank and the fuel gage indicating the fuel quantity remaining in the "Main" tank. When the switch is in the "Aux" position, fuel feeds from the "Aux" tank and indicates fuel remaining in the "Aux" tank.
I have owned a "Pace Arrow" (made by the same manufacturer as "Southwind" and that is how it worked. I would think yours would be the same?
