I'm interested in Lindy 77'-91' Chevy, Dodge or Ford. Any opinions on which is the of these makes is most has the durable drive train and gas mileage? I tested drove a 80' dodge which had very little power, had to floor the gas peddle just to get it going...I assume it had low cylinder compression. Additionally it had quite a bit of vibration, but not in the drive train, I think it was from the tires. I like the style and price but are the motor homes reliable? TIA Charles
I Have an 84 lindy I was just about to ut on the market if you are interested. it is in great shae with a new furnace fridge and entertainment center. has ac and a generator/inverter converter charger
My 1987 23 foot Skyline Lindy has a Chevy 350. I had the 3 speed trans replaced. Last Summer I drove it from Ohio to California and Back. 2600 Miles and the average fuel consumption was 6.7 MPG. I did have some problems passing, accelerating, and resuming speed after slowing down. But, those problems went away if I downshifted into 2nd (Drive 2).
I'm looking for an instruction manual for my 1985 Lindy model. We just purchased it and we are newbies. I looked online at the Skyline site but didn't find anything available. We are really concerned about the LP system, water system, hot water heater and electrical systems ability to bear load if we add another AC. Thanks for any info you can spare.
Denise: I have a owners manual from my 1987 Lindy. I could send (e-mail) a copy of the manual to you. As far as the wiring is concerned, you can upgrade to 50 Amp service. I would contact Skyline Corp. about specific electrical questions. They do not build Motorhomes any more but they build Nomad travel trailers and others.
They should be able to answer the 2nd A/C unit. My Motorhome has a 30 Amp service line and 30 Amp Main Breaker. It has two sub-breakers 15 Amps each one for all appliances and outlets, and one for the A/C unit.
I think you should be able to change out your Main Service line for 50 Amp service and add a third sub breaker for the 2nd A/C unit. If your box has space needed.
