Runnig lights paul 9-10-06
Please help I have a 1995 35 ft. Dolphin rv - my back top (5) running lights and my right tail running lights are not working. I have replaced the (5) top running lights with NEW lighting fixtures/housings. Meaning I pulled out what was there and replaced. Still it is not working. I also looked at the back tail running lights and there does not seem to be a problem but they too are not working. But the back right tail lights do work when turn signal, emergency lights or brake is applied. Does anyone out there have any suggestions???I have spent numerous hours on this project and am getting no where. Thanks for any HELP anybody could please provide.

Sounds as if you may have an open circuit to the tail running lights and to the left brake/turnsignal lights.

Have you checked to ensure 12 volts is available at the top clearance lights and/or to the left stop/turn signal lamps when the light switch is on or the brake/turn signal is on? Check from the bulb socket to a known good ground.

If you have 12 volts available there, problem could be in the grounding of the lights. Bad grounding can result in freaky operation of lighting.

Had a similar problem with the rear lights on my RV, ground straps were not working between the lights, installed a small sheet metal screw through both straps...solved the problem. Your system may or may not use straps for grounding, may use wireing.

Good luck with your troubleshooting,
John

Paul, I have, over the years, delt with falt finding and I have to agreee with John on this one look to the ground. To test run a separate ground outside to a good ground on the frame (temporarily) and follow the ground. This is after you have checked and made sure you have 12 volts up there.

Re: Clearance lights on 1985 Fleetwood C Class Michael Cox 10-1-08
Recently bought a 1987 Jamboree with new engine. Had problems with the rear lighting from start. Have managed to fix all other lights except the clearance and running lights on the front and rear of vehicle.
Cannot find the light wiring running from rear to front, have started taking the headlight switch out to see if I can trace the wiring from there. All fuses are good, and parts house tells me that there are no inline fuses or relays for that GMC van. Please offer some ideas.
