Re: 1983 18' sunrader by luke
Post New Message The unit i have has the five speed man tran, and no i did not replace the rear end, it has the five lug recalled rearend, but it has 90.000 miles on it, and i have inspected the rearend and its bearings, and i have changed the gear oil in it, and there is no visable problem yet''', but there is a toe hitch on this unit, but i dont think it has ever been used, and it is only a 18 ft unit. and i dont plan on over loading it when i use it. i also run the iner tire pressure three pounds higher than the outer tires. it sounds like it would help, but im not sure if im doing it more harm than good, and im also thinking of putting a synthetic gear oil in replacement of the gear oil recomended, but it also is just a idea.i do know that the rearend under my unit has the four bolts holding the axle in so it wont slide out if it does fail,so if i just take more care than normal, i may never have a problem. but i would replace it if toyota would give me a new part,it would be worth the price of installation, so if anybody has information that i do not about the recall and its limitations let me know. happy rving to all, luke
