Toyota 22R vs V6, power, gas milage Roman Hintz 6-17-05
I am planning to get a Toyota RV but I'm not sure if I should go with the 22R 4 cylinder or the V6. If you have knowledge on their power and miles per gallon comparison please respond, it will help me in my decision.
Thanks,
Roman

We have an 84 22R with a four speed and get about 14 MPG. I find myself doing 55 up hill in third a lot.

Was it the 4 or 6 that you had and got 14-16 MPG? At what speed were you able to get that milage? Was that standard or automatic. I have been leaning twards getting a 4 with a standard so all the input I get will help me decide if that is wise.
Thanks,
Roman

I had one till a fire recently. You only want one with fuel injection and you only want a V6 or you won't be going up any hills without a struggle. I was getting 14-16 mpg. I love the little thing, it was great. 100% destroyed. Since gas has gone up people are over charging for these little units. Beware when you buy

Apparently the v6 (3vz-fe) is shit as it blows headgaskets every 100000 miles or so. Im not sure how true this is. Or if there is any way to cure it for good, did the toyota recalled ones get fixed for ever, or did the problem reoccur.
What milage do the two get???
anyone got any info let me know, kindly appreciated

I am on my second Toyota four cylinder MH after going for a class A. I went cross country with the first one. Yes, it is a bit of a slug. However, the four is "bullet proof" I got 18 MPG on the highway. Friends with the six got 15 MPG. If your not going far the four is okay. The carburetor four is hard to start after it stands as the gas drains back.

I've got an '83 with a 4 cyl- 4 speed, sure it's a slug....but it's a little truck hauling a big load. Straight to the point....you're on vacation....who cares how fast it goes? Just put along at 55, enjoy the scenery. I personally like the 4 cyl, wouldn't mind a 5th gear though to let the engine spin at a lower rpm. Off point....my uncle looked at mine and said
"it looks like a doghouse humping a chiuaha".

Sorry out of the point, but isn't 14 miles to a gallon like.... Terrible? a chevy silverado v8 gets 22 mpg on the highway..

What caused the fire?
That is one of my greatest concerns.
