Im planning to buy a rialta. I'd like to know the good side and the bad side of it. Is there anyone who could strongly recomend mme buying this product? Thanks
I hate to bust y'all's bubble, guys, but the Rialta is a real problem - especially those tiny tires. They are very expensive to replace -- even if you can find them. When you order them, it takes 2 to 3 months to get them. We had a Rialta and the right rear tire threw a tread, putting me and my granddaughter into a ditch and pretty near killing us. When I complained to Winnebago, they ignored the problem with the tires until I went public with it.
You all need to go to a different RV, but stay away from the Rialta. It's very pretty, but very dangerous.
Have you had your Rialta engine cooling fans break. I have on my 2002 model at only 14,000 miles. I contacted VW and there was a recall for 1998 to june 2001 years but not for later years. I contacted the U.S. Dept. of Transportation at (888) 327-4236 and filed a complaint. Turns out that there are a number of complaints pending for Euro Vans/ Rialta's. This is a problem and the NHTS has just sent a letter to VW to address this week. Please let me know if you have had this problem and I will get you story to the investigator at NHTS.
I am considering buying a Rialta and would appreciate feedback from owners of same.
The Rialta is just like all motorhomes -- there's bad and good parts to it. I disagree that it's like or worse than a LeSharo. You have a much better chance of finding a VW dealership to work on the Rialta than you do or ever did finding someone to work on the French side of the LeSharo.
If you want a good read on all the bad and good of the Rialta, I recommend going to the Rialta Yahoo Group at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/groups/Rialta
Incidentally, I own a Rialta and really like it. I've looked into RoadTreks, Coachman, etc. Class B van campers, and have been disappointed. In my opinion, the Rialta is a nicer rig than its competition.

I have been considering buying a Rialta. It appears to be just what i've been looking for, but I have heard only negative comments about this RV. Is there anyone out there that has anything positive or negative about the rialta. Is there another product similar to the rialta that I might look at??
I have a 2000 and would like to have a basic engine service. But I also need the brakes examined. They squeal. I am having trouble finding someone who can work on them. Does anyone know anybody in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina (or on east coast!) that would be able to perform this service. Any of the Atlanta area VW dealers say they do not have a lift that can accommodate the Rialta and they don't have "certified" mechanics for the Rialta. E-mail me or reply here. Thanks.
I am considering buying a Rialta and would appreciate feedback from owners of same. I have read some disparaging articles on the lack of service by VW. I also notice that the generator is an option. On a vehicle of this price, it's an option?
My wife and I have traveled all over the US in our 98 rialta and although there HAVE been repairs made to our rv we have found our vw dealer in santa monica calif. and altmans rv in carson ca.to be fair and honest. I have done much mechanical repair is my 68 years and know what needs to be done to keep a vehicle in good running condition. this is a great little rv. there is also a group at yahoo.com (rialta tech) with many people who love to help fellow members. dave
We were considering a Rialta until a VW mechanic at the local VW shop ask us if we slow learners. His question, "would you buy a Lesharo again"? When I answered "hell no!" he said are you a slow learner? He said VW dealers will not work on them and the authorized Winnabago dealers that service them are ripping new holes in owners wallets. Said even worse than Lesharo for repair ost.
Stopped us cold, the Lesharo sucks. Maybe the Rialta does too.
I have a 2001/2002 Rialta which I just love. I use it for dog show weekends almost every weekend and can not believe the savings on gas!!!! It is perfect for me and my 3 medium size show dogs and it is loaded with all the extras. I wish they still made them because if mine ever wears out I will go right out and get another one!! I am the third owner and it is in perfect shape except were I sort of didn't judge the width and scraped the side twice!!!!
I'm planning on acquiring a Rialta. I've checked on installing the OEM Eurovan fog lights. Does anyone Know for sure or not: Is the wiring already in the factory harness. Most vehicles have the same wiring harness, fog lights or not. I saw a Eurovan for sale on E-Bay and it had the fog lights, but it also had the same HVAC controls the same as the Riala...in other words, not the deluxe HVAC controls. All the other Eurovans that had fog lights have the fancier HVAC controls. I'm praying that the wiring is there. I found available OEM fog lights and applicable correct headlight switch...although VERY expensive...around $500 for everything except wiring, include mounting brackets. I will appreciate the extra steps you take to help me.
I have a 2000 Rialta QD, The tranny when hot has begun to slip and or not up or downshift, this is isolated and only happens when under severe load. Much to my surprise THERE IS NO TRANNY DIP STICK in the Rialta???? Service is a challenge.. any suggustions on how to check fluid levels and or add tranny fluids?
Looking for a Rialta QD with the upgrade VW engine. I also have my eyes on a old turbo diesel that I may swap the engine / drive train for the buick or the other option that's available...
I am looking for information or experience using the shower on the Rialta. It seems to be very awkward or in that you have to have the sink down to adjust the water temp and flow. There must something that I am not getting. JS

I am considering buying a Rialta and would appreciate feedback from owners of same. I have read some disparaging articles on the lack of service by VW. I also would like to know if there are any 1996s or 997s for sale. I've checked the internet in most of the places people advertise and in our local advertising media here in Tucson, AZ and have never seen a '96 r '97 advertised. Any info on these would be appreciated.
We have owned our 2003 Rialta for 16 months and it has been great. It is a mechanical thing and one should expect to maintain it. It has many systems and all of ours work fine. Tires can be a problem since Continetal/Vancos are hard to find, but there are acceptable substitutes. I have folks just waiting for me to move up to something else. They may have a long wait. Actual miles per gallon averages 18.5 but we have gotten as much as 21 MPG. We are lovin' it.
I read your comment and thats a ridiculous comment, that could happen on any mototrhome, and as for the tires you can get good year tires that will have the weight rating for the coach.. Rialtas are a great camper
Please send details and pix of your Rialta. I need the height and length particularly to determine if it will fit in my 2 car garage. Also other pertinent data, mileage, location, etc. will be appreciated.
I'm beginning to try to sell my 1999 22Q Rialta. It has 68,850 miles and is in excellent condition. Just replaced all batteries and had work done on generator. Some sun fading on exterior but no wrecks or damage. All factory documentation. I am second owner. Contact me via email ellisdawsn@aol.com or 505.288.8995
