The renault diesel is a real dog. My wife and I could not keep it running. Winnebago ripped people
off on the repair parts. Call
around for prices on parts before
you buy. The only reason to buy one
of these dogs is to convert it to a V6.
I am looking for a 83-up Lesharo. Perfer diesel. If you are a prior owner your comments would be welcomed.
thanks, A. van Hoek
I have a late 1984 turbo diesel Le Sharo for sale. It was part of an estate sale. The old fellow who owned it has kept it in excellent shape. It runs, looks and drives great. Just don't expect to go anywhere in a hurry or tow anything heavy. I always drive no quicker than 50 mph. The Le Sharo certainly is under powered but that is what you get when you want excellent fuel economy. If you need engine parts, you can order them through Chrysler. The 2.1 litre turbo diesel engine is the same one that was fitted in the mid eighties Jeep Cherokee turbo diesels. The diesel injection system is made by bosch. I had no problems getting the bits I needed from my local bosch dealer. I had my diesel injectors rebuilt for about $60(cdn) each x 4 = $240(cdn). And new glow plugs for about $20. each. A lot less than what my Winnebago dealer quoted me, mind you they will gouge you for everything no matter what you drive. If you want to find someone to fix your le sharo, find an auto mechanic who works on European cars in particular, french cars. The rolling chassis of this vehicle is based on the renault trafic, a utility van that is a common sight all over Europe and the UK. Your typical GM/FORD mechanic will probably gouge you more because of his unfamiliarity with this type of vehicle. If you are interested in buying my Le sharo send me an e-mail.
It's a great R.V. and needs nothing.

Hi all,
We convert the LeSharo and Phasar to Chrysler gas V-6 engines with the 4 speed automatic Chrysler transmission.

I have a 1986 LaShareo Winnebago and I am having trouble with the moltor now. I need a repair manual for this motor, I am also interested in finding out what V-6 engine will replace the diesel engine. I don't need to keep having trouble like this with this engine. I haven't got but 43,ooo miles on the motor home and I have already had to replace the timing belt, and 4 bent rocker arms, now i have a problem with black smoke and no power. If you could give me some suggestions I would appreciate it. bennyhodge@mindspring.com Thanks The renault diesel is a real dog. My wife and I could not keep it running. Winnebago ripped people

I purchase a 2.2 gas automatic 86 LeSharo that was sitting for about a year. The owner told me that the tramission had started to slip a little before she took it off the road. It's not inspected yet but I had taken it for short drives ( 3-4 )miles and it seems to shift well and not slip. Before I took it on the road I tried to drive it up on my ramps but it would only go half way up before it started to slip. After a short ride I had no truble driving up the ramps. The tramission fluid was black so I took the pan off, cleaned the filter and filled it with dextron 3. How big of a job is it if I had to change the bands?
